Axe & Root Homestead is finally sharing seeds from our own growing spaces (with free shipping)! I've been seed-saving for years and using my own stock in my gardens. In 2024, I grew more crops than ever and excess seeds were saved to share with other growers. These seeds were grown in my permaculture gardens, totally naturally, with zero additives, pesticides, or herbicides. Small batches are hand-harvested, dried and packaged here in central New Jersey.
About Lacinato Kale
An Italian kale variety, Lacinato is extremely cold hardy with wrinkled, flat leaves. The flavor is sweeter than other kale varieties with a softer texture. The growth habit is upright and compact.

Permaculture Uses
- As an heirloom crop, save your seeds for future use.
- Kale is delicious for fresh-eating, cooking, or using in soups and stews.
- When allowed to blossom, pollinators love the flowers.
- Extremely cold hardy. Planting in August to September for a fall and winter harvest is recommended.
- Cold- and drought-tolerant.
- Rich in vitamins A, C, K, and in Magnesium and Zinc.
- An excellent companion for potatoes and strawberries
