I do not know everything there is to know about saving horses. But I have saved four and I would love to help others. It is my hope that this guide will serve as a resource for those looking to home rescue horses, and to offer a glimpse of what the road to rehabilitation and recovery on behalf of the horse entails. It is not a speedy path and is often filled with many unknowns. But to see a horse gain weight, recover from physical and/ or mental trauma, to have their hooves cared for and become strong, to see their coat begin to shine, to feel their first nuzzle or kiss to their caregivers as they learn to trust again... it’s so worth it.
