Saining bundles are a collection of gathered and dried herbs, flowers, or other plant material. Each plant specie within the bundle is intentionally chosen for its properties and relationship to the greater energetic field. Saining is a Celtic practice of using the smoke of dried plant material to banish negative or unwanted energy, or to bless an object or space. In this practice, the base plants for bundle making are mugwort and/or wormwood.
Please note that "saining" can often be confused with the Indigenous cultural practice of "smudging." Smudging is a deeply ceremonial practice using sage that is sacred to Indigenous groups. For this reason, our bundles are not sage-based as we do not wish to infringe on this cultural ritual in any capacity.
This Celtic-inspired saining bundle is made of plant material that is 100% permaculture grown, pesticide- and herbicide-free, completely organic and natural, with zero additives, all from our own farm. Each summer inspired bundle contains a variety of plants that were selected for their associations, in celebration of the summer solstice. Plants were gently gathered, dried, tied with twine, and finished with a honeybee charm.
This bundle contains:
Mugwort: Protection and purification, wards off evil spirits, strengthens intuition, dreaming, healing, and a divination ally.
Wormwood: Banishing negative energy, protection, and enhancing divination.
Catmint: Happiness, beauty, helps with psychic abilities and dreams, bonding, protection, healing, love and romance.
Cosmos: Spiritually cosmos represent order, harmony, love, romance, and peace.
Sunflower: Represents the sun, integrity, good luck, cheer, self-confidence, and abundance.
Yarrow: Associated with healing, courage, strength, a divination ally, purification, and cleansing.
Butterfly Weed: Symbolizes transformation, resilience, encouragement, health, and vitality.
The bundle's charm was specifically chosen as honeybees are spiritually associated with hard work, community, and cooperation along with abundance and prosperity.
Our bundles measure between eight to ten inches in length, depending on the variety. While overall burn time varies based on the practitioner's frequency of use, one bundle lasts a very long time, in my personal experience. Thin bundles measure approximately one-half inch thick, while thick bundles are one inch wide in diameter or more.
Directions For Use
This is dried plant material. It will ignite quickly. Simply light one end of the bundle with a match or lighter. After a flame catches within the plant allow it to burn for a few seconds, just until smoke begins to rise. If the bundle's flame does not burn out naturally, gently snuff out the lit embers just enough so that smoke still continues to emit from the bundle. Please exercise caution and practice fire safety. Watch for falling embers and ash. Once you have purified your person or space according to your ritual or practice preference, please fully snuff out all evidence of flame and smoke and allow to cool fully before storage.
